Terms of service

Last updated 2026-07-24

Not legal advice. A plain-language starting point that matches how we actually operate. Have a Washington attorney review it before you rely on it — especially the liability cap and the telephony-compliance allocation.

1. The agreement

Cornerstone Voice Studio is a trade name of Richard Chai. These terms cover use of this website and, together with your order form, the service provided by Richard Chai trading as Cornerstone Voice Studio — the counterparty to any agreement you enter into here. If you sign an order form, it controls where it conflicts with this page.

2. What we provide

An AI-operated phone, SMS, form and chat intake service for your business: answering, triage, escalation, appointment booking, and writeback into your CRM, configured to rules you supply. We provide the system and its tuning. We do not provide restoration, plumbing, or any other trade service, and we do not dispatch your crews on our own authority.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate configuration: service area, pricing rules, on-call rotation, and your definition of an emergency. The agent applies your rules; wrong rules produce wrong outcomes.
  • Keep a human reachable for escalations. This service reduces missed calls; it does not accept responsibility for emergency response.
  • You own the relationship with your customers, including your own privacy notice and any consent your jurisdiction requires for recording.
  • Don't use the service for unlawful calling — no cold outbound campaigns to numbers that didn't contact you, and no use that would violate the TCPA or state telemarketing law. Callbacks are for inbound leads.

4. Fees, billing and cancellation

Setup is billed at the start of the build. The monthly fee is billed monthly in advance, month to month, with no minimum term. Usage above your plan's included minutes is billed at the rate on your order form. Cancel any time with written notice before your next billing date; we do not pro-rate a partial month, and we do not charge a cancellation fee. Setup fees are refundable within 14 days of launch if we cannot get the service working on your line.

5. The 30-day terms

If, in your first 30 days after launch, the service does not answer calls that were previously reaching voicemail, you don't pay the monthly fee for that period. We determine this from your call logs together with you, using the pre-launch baseline we measure during the build. It is a straightforward measurement, not a judgment call, which is why we're comfortable putting it in writing.

6. Your data

Your call records, transcripts, recordings and customer data are yours. We process them as your service provider to deliver the service, as described in our privacy policy. On cancellation you may export everything, and we will delete our copies on request. We do not sell your data and we do not license it for third-party model training.

7. Your phone number

You keep and own your business number. Where we provision a number for you, you may port it out on cancellation, and we will not hold a number hostage as leverage.

8. Availability

We aim for continuous availability and build failover so a fault falls back to your existing line or voicemail rather than dead air. We do not promise uninterrupted service: we depend on upstream telephony, voice and model providers, and on your carrier.

9. AI output

The agent is built to say it doesn't know rather than guess, and to hold irreversible actions — dispatch and pricing — for a human. It can still be wrong. Review the transcripts, especially in the first weeks. Don't configure it to quote a price or commit an arrival window you aren't willing to honor.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost business, and our total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination by us

We may suspend or end service for non-payment, for use that is unlawful, or for use that puts our telephony accounts at risk. Except for abuse, we'll give you 30 days' notice and help you transition.

12. Governing law

Washington State law governs, and the state and federal courts in King County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We'll post changes here with a new date, and email active clients about anything material at least 30 days before it takes effect.
